Because they care about you, even if they can be hard on you or overly critical sometimes. Deep down, they don’t want to see you get hurt again, especially after everything you’ve already been through. Sometimes their way of protecting you comes across as harshness, but it comes from a place of love and fear of watching you go through that pain all over again.
