Reduced traffic lanes, bike lanes, medians, European style rounded curbs, double parked Amazon/UPS/FedEx trucks everywhere, people refusing to go through red lights for emergency vehicles.

Nyc doesn’t have enough EMS trucks/crew for all the calls they get! People call ems for non emergent situations (stubbed toe, leg pain x3yrs, diarrhea…).

it's because people call 911 for unnecessary things and it blocks the list of where the ambulance goes first. it's hard to figure out what to prioritize when more bs pops up than real emergencies

As an NYC resident I can name at least 4 people I know who have had the ambulance NOT show up. It is incredibly scary and dangerous.

as someone who’s studying to be an emt, i’ve heard that EMTs don’t get paid well, are mostly volunteer, and are in general pretty understaffed rather than overstaffed

Listen we call EMS for dysregulated teens and medical emergencies and sometimes they never even get there and we ended having to walk them to the ER. I believe there’s definitely something up with EMS

1. 911 is flooded w bs calls that could be handled by an uber to urgent care 2. People quit ems the second they find a decent paying job so there’s simply not enough ambulances for all the 911 calls
