IVE HAD ALOT of you ask me about this on my story so here’s my breakdown 🫶🏽😊 Another Thailand life admin job finally done 😂 So here’s how I exchanged my UK driving licence for a Thai one in Koh Samui 👇 📄 FIRST: GET YOUR CERTIFICATES SORTED I got my residency certificate from immigration, then visited a clinic for a medical check and medical certificate. 🚗 NEXT: THE TRANSPORT OFFICE I already had a UK driving licence, so I followed the exchange process. I was told it needed at least 6 months left before expiry—worth checking yours before heading in! 📋 THE DOCUMENTS I TOOK • Residency certificate • Medical certificate • Driving licence + copies of the front and back • Passport + copies of the photo page and relevant stamped page 📱 THE ONLINE SECTION I completed a short online section with around 5–6 questions, then had all my paperwork checked. 👀 THE CHECKS Next were the eyesight/colour checks and a quick reaction test. That part took me about 5 minutes… if that! 📸 THEN THE FINISHING TOUCHES Passed the checks, paid the fee, had my photo taken and collected my Thai driving licence! 🥳 Having the paperwork ready made it feel much more straightforward than I’d imagined. This was MY experience exchanging a UK licence in Koh Samui. Requirements can vary, so check with your local transport office especially if you’re applying without an existing licence the process is longer & more in depth 📌 Save this for when you’re sorting yours, and send it to someone who’s still got this on their Thailand to-do list! And can anyone guess how much the whole process cost me? 👀💸 Drop your guess in baht below 👇 P.S. Dress appropriately for your visits, think immigration-style clothing: shoulders covered and no short shorts. I went with a light jacket and longer bottoms #KohSamui #LivingInThailand #thaidrivinglicence #expatlife #thailand
