Nope. To me it’s more of reducing accidents and death. Everyday on 880 there’s some kind of accident happening everyday! Now imagine 580 & 880 back up all the way shit would be a nightmare

My Grandparents lost their house on Miles Ave to build 580. Their property is now a freeway exit ramp

The sweeping turns and inclines on 580 are too much for trucks. They would be obstructing traffic going too slow. Especially merging onto the freeway since 580 has numerous uphill entrance ramps.

theyre trying to lift the ban, its gonna be horrendous if it does the traffic on 580 getting into berkeley sf is already brutal at rush hour

280 across the bay is also off limits to trucks. it makes sense to have truck-free highways on higher elevation, curve-heavy routes away from industrial areas

280 north of 85 is banned too all the way to 380. so its not the only interstate that bans trucks

It has more to do with racism than anything else. West Oakland is mostly poor African Americans and east Oakland is more rich and white. The want the diesel fumes and pollution limited to the poor part of Oakland.

they should just ban trucks over here in SoCal where we are at, maybe let's have the 60 freeway? and the truck's going to have the 10?. because there's so much traffic backed up because of that
