I don't have kids but I do work alongside them for work from time to time and it blows my mind when writers really can't comprehend the intellect an 8 year old has. Like please do some research, hang with your friends who have kids, go to the park. anything.

Am I the only one who thought the trailer was overhyped? I heard it was extremely terrifying, saw the trailer, and thought it was okay but not as horrifying/scary as people kept saying it was. Idk, at least to me it felt like everyone kinda exaggerated how scary the horror was.

When I read incidents around the house I thought, "These ideas won't work as a movie." Then I heard a movie was being made and I wondered how theyd tackle them. And the movie tackles these ideas by completely ignoring them

The run on sentences and lack of quotes was so painfully horrendous in the book. And making the characters “mom who resents her child and is a cheater with nieve childish dad that loves the child even though it’s not his biologically” is certainly a choice. I will say I think the movie greatly improved the ending, in the book I got left saying “if other mommy could have killed the family why didn’t she just do that to begin with”. But that’s about it 😬

If you want a better movie about an "evil mom" I suggest Goodnight, Mommy (the original, not the remake). It's creepier and much better overall.

I have worked with children for a while and when I was reading the book, my biggest gripe was that this author had no idea what an actual 7-8 year old is like. I also really hated Daddo and I hated the whole ‘woman is cheating serially’ thing
