It’s also normal in games to have a character whose lore is less crazy than the others. It adds diversity and prevents bloating from trying to make many threads all connect. It’s fine if she’s a little more “normal” than like. Seven.

I feel like that’s supposed to be the comedy of Violet. There’s this high stakes life or death ritual with supernatural forces at play and she’s just a college student who wants to wish to graduate. Like- that’s what makes it fun???

I will say her reason for being in the ritual is dumb asf and I was talking about this with someone from New York in art school who is Asian. Like for me I like her kit a lot like a lot a lot but her design and lore are weak but I do like the fact that she’s cool asf and hangs out with Billy. The thing that’s winning me over is the same thing with Vyper, it’s the voicelines

My problem with Violet is that she's just too normal. Legit just a random art student risking her life for "recognition". her Dialogue makes her feel like a self insert OC too. Especially the ones with Billy and Haze.

everyone saying violet is too normal are conveniently ignoring that fact that we already have lash, who has no real important impact on the lore besides the fact he's funny; Holliday, who's most lore relevance currently (don't bring up the Holliday haze thing that's not out yet) is related to another character; and warden, who's lore is interesting but he really isn't. my point isn't that these characters are bad, it's that they're more normal and will develop even more with time. before city never sleeps I don't think we knew much about silver, but her relationship to shiv and drifter makes her a much deeper character. maybe valve knows what they're doing and you're just assuming that Violet's gonna be so boring because she's a woman and east asian

The Deadlock community has called like three women the the Kiriko/Luna Snow of the game. I think there’s just a chunk of them frothing at the mouth for a woman to acceptably hate on, and what’s worse is that I don’t think it’s a conscious thing
