it was a sad day indeed.. my daughter is grown now, but her school in Sandy had a security officer. Her family now lives in Idaho, and the school districts hire retired police officers as security officers

I'm in Portland. Personally my kids are in the 30's BUT I have grandkids. I'm terrified for the kids and teachers! I don't know how parents tell their kids about the shooting and killing in Bend. i can't even imagine the fear the kids are going thru. It just breaks my heart!!!

My heart goes to Bend from a Central Oregonian. We never sent our child and decided to do home school. Just makes you realize that yes, it can literally happen anywhere. It is so heartbreaking and my heart goes out to everyone involved.

terrifying, i live just a couple block from both of the schools my children attend. and I make sure they have phones on them despite the no phone policy just incase, best believe I won't wait for the cops to save my babies.

Name me one law creation that would prevent school shootings or any other mass casualty attack. The problem isnt the gun, or any other weapon chosen, its the choices made by an individual what to do with the weapon they chose. You can kill a mass amount of people with anything you want if thats your intention. We have mass shooting Mass stabbings Mass vehicle homicides of crowds Chemicals released in classrooms So are we gonna keep addressing the inademant objects that cant act without the human choice to or we gonna finally tell the truth and address the choices those people make and why they make them because there are no laws to stop choice or intent so whats more gun laws gonna do but escape the actual problem, mental health, which is what many of you hope to avoid because its much more complicated than gun control which initself would be impossible, Keeping in mind a gun and the right person with it is why more kids werent killed. If laws prevented him from owning one but the gunman still had his by what ever means, then what. Be pissed, but be smart and be pissed at the real problem, not the false one you think you can just law away.
