For years I shared a room with my autistic son just to be on watch. I cried so much and went through a lot. But im here to tell you he is 18 graduated high school with honors. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and you will look back and say "I did that!"

There are a lot of misinformed doctors out there / especially general practice. They mean well, but they’re not specialists. The information your pediatrician gave you is outdated. Seek out a specialist to do a full psych evaluation. My sister started Ritalin and Clonidine at age 4 way back in 1994. It’s definitely not illegal to give to a young child, but a family doctor or pediatrician won’t take the risk.

Menninger Clinic and TCH have a psych program (not sure about ages) there is also a psych clinic in Richmond Tx called WestPark Springs that offer mental health care for children and teens

First things first, remove all chemicals from his food. No dyes, no nitrates, no msg….. it’s a big deal and will help removing it all. Read chips, liquids, everything. It gets easier once it becomes habit.
