Hello my beautiful family ❤️ I want to clear up some wrong information about my concert because you deserve to know the truth First, I never said my concert budget was $1.5 million and I never said I spent that amount and I am not saying this because people are talking … I am saying it because it is the truth Let me explain what happened When I first met Vicky, I showed her my dream the stage, the production and the kind of concert I wanted to create…. She told me, V, what you are showing me could cost around $1.5 million I thanked her for her time but I told her I couldn’t afford that and I honestly thought that was the end The next day she called and told me she and her team believed in my vision and wanted to help make it happen. And they did. They reached out to international artists, production companies, and professionals and some agreed to support me without their usual fees, and others reduced their fees significantly That is what Vicky explained at the press conference. She was talking about what a concert like this could normally cost, not announcing my actual budget Now here’s what happened afterward I was in my car at the airport, taking Peter back to South Africa, when I saw a post saying I had announced a $1.5 million concert budget I was shocked and I said, Excuse me? When did I say that? And you know me. When something isn’t right I don’t just pretend I haven’t seen it So I called the journalist immediately I asked Were you at my press conference? Did you hear me say that? Show me exactly when I said I have a $1.5 million budget He told me he was trying to help by creating a story that would make people interested in the concert I told him But you are a journalist….. You can’t create a different story from what someone actually said….. You have to report what happened He insisted I had said it so I asked him to send me the video. He did and the video showed exactly what I am telling you now Vicky was explaining the estimated cost of my original vision and how her team helped bring those costs down Eventually he apologized 🙌🏽 I asked him to delete the incorrect post and share what was actually said….. He has supported me before and I have no interest in fighting with him I thought that was the end but now this false story is everywhere with people sharing it without checking I have enormous respect for Ethiopian journalists so many have supported me throughout my career and I will never forget that but respect must go both ways Yes this concert is expensive and Yes I took a bank loan and yes I am making big sacrifices to bring my dream to life I have never hidden that But $1.5 million was NOT my announced budget….. It was an estimate of what the original production could cost under normal circumstances the beautiful part of this story isn’t the money.. It’s that people from different African countries saw a young Ethiopian woman with a dream and chose to stand beside her…. That is the story I wish everyone had focused on To anyone spreading false stories to bring me down you cannot pull me down, because God is already lifting me up and to my beautiful family I love you so much…..
