I don’t need a supernatural being to be moral. If you do that says more about you than it does about me.

The problem with the objective morality question of christianity is if something is considered because god commands it to be, or if god only commands good things, if the first is true that means goodness is arbitrary, and god could command something that is logically not good but would be considered as such because he is god. If the second is true then that means goodness exists outside of god and therefore morality doesn’t need a superior power.

So I agree that empathy is a bad account for morality, but it’s also interesting to see Christians levy criticisms like “your moral framework is bad because it can permit blatant wrongdoing” and then when you point out how Christians have used theism, or Christianity, to justify moral wrongdoing they end up in the same hot-seat that they tried to put their interlocutors in. Like sure slavery is something you probably think is wrong, but I doubt you have a different view of the wrongness of things like the crusades, the inquisition, and many other things that Christians have carried out. Or for example even abstract intuitions like how you’ve defended the view that God is permitted in killing whoever he wants, innocent or otherwise, because he is the “author of life”.

Do morals even matter, cause as long as you change your mind and you believe in Jesus before you die nothing happens to you

Ever heard of agency coz that uses the three laws of logic to establish morality.
Also saying the covenant code has better laws of slavery than hammurabi is so laughable if you've read both which would make you realize how similar they were.
Im sorry but the claim slavery in the bible is decent especially for foreign slaves is a gross misrepresentation of the covenant code
Also christians were both in the abolitionist side and the slavery promoting side to the extent that the quakers biggest opposition was fellow Christians and I reality the enlightenment was the true pusher of the abolitionist movement not the bible 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Moral argument falls apart because it always comes down to the theist being unable to understand the concept, like you did here. “To a psychopath, nothing is wrong”, was used as an argument but that is the legitimate definition. Nothing is objectively wrong, we make our own moral assumptions and come to an intersubjective standard in society. If all of society agreed on something, no matter how horrific, to them it would be moral.

morality does not require god
empathy isn't the sole basis of morality and psychopaths don't determine what's right
claiming god gradually regulated slavery doesn't explain why an allegedly perfect loving god permitted human ownership instead of prohibiting it outright
May the critical thinking bless you

you just discovered subjective morality, I personally think from my subjective point of view that maximizing total human happiness and minimizing suffering is what makes something right or wrong because im biologically predisposed to feel empathy. therefore other people suffering feels bad to me. however this doesn't make my philosophy an objective feature of reality, a psychopath may not feel any remorse and think causing suffering is not a bad think and there is no way for me to prove I'm right and he's wrong. since in a society most people think like me it logically follows follows that the laws and rules are closely aligned to my mindset. and yes I can explain why hitler was in the wrong according to most people's view of morality
