In many states, it’s too easy to buy one. I don’t believe in a flat out ban, matter of fact, I think any ban is unconstitutional. But no one should be allowed to buy one without proving they know how to use it and they’re mentally well

In Indiana the only thing between you and a gun is a “background check” and 3 day waiting period. Both of which, according to my coworkers, are regularly ignored by gun shops. It’s a wild change from New England

from a leftist perspective, taking away gun rights from the people is wrong and bad because we the proletariat must have a way to defend ourselves from the government. and, a person who wants to shoot up a school, will still do it even if they can't get an assault rifle. instead, we need more resources for troubled teens/adults and extensive mental help programs

Your entire argument assumes making firearms illegal nationwide would somehow eliminate access to them. We already have hundreds of millions of guns in circulation. Are criminals suddenly going to surrender theirs? We couldn't eliminate illegal drugs through prohibition, yet you assume banning firearms would eliminate illegal guns? I remember when students had hunting rifles in their vehicles at school, and nobody thought twice about it. What changed wasn't the existence of firearms. Access may be a factor, but it doesn't explain why someone decides to murder innocent people. Address the individuals, their behavior, and the causes of violence instead of pretending legislation alone fixes them.

had he not done what he did that kid could have and would have killed more. its an intent problem, not a gun problem. 1 with intent to harm, the other to save. its a people problem not a gun problem. Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws and practically every single day someone is taken out.
