People think being a developer is just about coding. But after working in the industry for almost 3 years as a fresh grad Programmer Analyst, I realized the job is so much deeper than that. Some days, I spend hours configuring systems and figuring out why something suddenly stopped working. Other days, I’m coordinating with different teams just to trace where an issue started. Sometimes the hardest part isn’t even the code. It’s understanding the application, knowing the right people to talk to, and taking action fast when problems happen. Being a primary support means people rely on you when things go wrong. And the struggles are real. Social media often makes software development look easy. Like once you learn a programming language and build a few projects, everything becomes smooth. That’s not reality. There are stressful days. Days where you question yourself. Moments where you stare at logs, configs, and errors for hours trying to make sense of everything. But these experiences matter. Because every issue teaches you how to think critically. Every problem improves how you handle pressure. And every struggle slowly transforms you from someone who just writes code into someone who can solve real-world problems. I may still be young in this industry, but almost 3 years in tech already taught me that growth doesn’t happen when things are easy. It happens when you’re challenged. I want to share the real side of being a developer. Not just the achievements, but also the pressure, mistakes, lessons, and struggles behind the scenes. Follow for more transparent content about life in tech, being a Programmer Analyst, and how I navigate the real challenges of becoming a better developer every day.
