Unfortunately you can’t force the customer to leave his phone. You could ask for his ID in order to call the police if he doesn’t return in 24h. If the customer doesn’t have ID you could take his photo. Other than that that’s the price of business

I've been in this situation before. I let him go, and he didn't return until his next haircut. He paid for both the current and previous haircuts with a small additional tip. That's how he became my client for nearly 5 years.

very reasonable on the barbers part. its common for people to leave wallets, keys, phones, things of that nature to go to the ATM across the street. if services are rendered payment is due.
