I saw a mom with a 43lb 10 month old and she says the pediatrician says hes perfectly healthy and its just baby fat. No. It was "just baby fat" 20lbs ago. My son is 3 1/2 and he isnt even 40lbs yet!

as someone who is fat and has been fat my whole life, it is the parents fault. they need to stop supporting food addictions and the “you need to finish your whole plate” mentality.

Like kids do tend to be a little chubby and not as lean as adults, but that’s only because they need a little bit of energy stored because they’re growing so fast! Obesity is really hard on the body!

If that child was malnourished, people would lose their minds. But over feeding, no? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE! It's abuse!

“i just can’t say no” is saying yes to giving the child current and future health issues, weight/body issues, and putting them at risk for/feeding into their food addiction

I have a morbidly obese brother and oh my god the fights that were had about food because he "was starving" and would throw such a fit my mom would give in and just let him eat. A combination of fatty starchy foods and zero portion control. He was 250 by 10 years old and at 16 had to be weighed on a freight scale to get a weight which was 510. He was full blown insulin dependent diabetic by 18 and had no legs by 24. He died at 28 and it was a nightmare because he literally needed a casket the size of a grand piano.

like there is truly just no reason that a 2 year old should be eating THREE hot dogs "to start with" and mom saying hot dogs are healthy?? they're full of sodium and nobody should be eating three in a day especially a small child

Even the conditions that cause crazy levels of childhood obesity (like Prader-Willi for example) are caused by triggering constant intense hunger that makes the sufferer feel they need to overeat to feel normal but they never feel full. The treatment for that includes hormonal therapies and medications but it also includes locking the pantries, monitoring portions, and watching them to make sure they’re not over eating in order to protect your child’s health. There’s literally no condition that just makes you spontaneously balloon up to that dramatically overweight without eating too much also being a factor.

Does the toddler actually have distended fat though or are they just normal fat? BMI has never indicated much imo.

I saw a woman on here mention it too but that mom has 6 kids but the only one we really see is the 1 year old girl who is never clothed and is ALWAYS being fed.

I know we’re talking about a toddler but I feel like people in the USA are in denial about healthy eating in general.

really can't stand the people who think just because they're giving a healthy option that they can let the kid over eat regardless. people don't understand how to portion kids plates and it drives me fuckin insane. why is a toddler eating an adult amount of food idc if it's "healthy" why tf is a KID eating as much as an adult 🫩

As a childcare teacher, I've noticed that people will either blame the parents for everything (imo, this is correct) or act as if the child had any say! When it comes to children, they LITERALLY don't know anything, if you over feed them, they don't understand they're being overfed, it's normal to them, it isn't their fault. The ADULT knows better

no cause the ANGER i get when i see so many people defending toddlers and babies being obese because they think it’s “cute”. like girl that is not cute that is fcking neglect. as a mom myself it’s our JOB to keep our children healthy and at a healthy weight

People excuse parents too much because yes if I see something that looks wrong I’d rather be safe than sorry since children don’t have a voice to protect themselves. A lot of the times there is a valid excuse or explanation but what about if there isn’t?? We need to start protecting these babies more idc

I’ve been fat most of my life and I agree that there is a point where it’s abuse/neglect. Very young children, even those with conditions, don’t naturally hold onto fat unless they’re overfed to an EXTREME level and not moving enough to burn the calories.

I remember my 25 year old cousin I guess? gave her daughter who was like 7 at the time a full venti frappe from Starbucks while her daughter was already 100+lbs.. they would also leave here with their parents for months and I felt so bad cause she would lash out at the adults but when me and her were alone she was really nice and really misunderstood. so many issues I could go over just becuase of her parents choices she is the way she is..
