As a psych nurse, there was one borderline pt that’s been giving EVERYONE a hard time like literal h3ll for both day and night shift. It was my first day back since she’s been there and I had her. She was never difficult for me AND she slept good. All the nurses said “idk what you did, but thank you.” All I did was listen. I let her talk without feeding her bs. She woke up around 0600 and thanked me for showing I actually cared. A good listener and good sleep honestly fixes a lot of issues

Working in Elderly care unit. Had this frequent flyer that’s known to be pushy/demanding and quite rude to everyone including doctors. Never been rude to me, always nice and polite. At one point, colleagues even said he made a remark about “they just let anyone become a nurse nowadays” asked him about it… and he said it’s true. Didnt even deny it, said some are just not cut out to be nurses. On his day of discharge, met with one of his daughters and said I was his favorite 😅 turns out patient was an ICU nurse/ ward manager for years.

in my experience at least it's because i'm also a yapper and ill stand in the room and yap with them when my chartings done and none of my others need anything. those 3am yaps when they're awake for some reason go so hard
