Across America, millions of people who were raised without a religious identity have later embraced a faith. The latest major Pew Research Center Religious Landscape Study offers striking evidence of this movement, even as America’s overall religious picture remains complex. Pew found that 3.6% of U.S. adults now identify as Christians even though they were not raised Christian. Based on the adult population, Pew estimates that this represents more than 9 million Americans who have become Christians after being raised in another religion or without religion. The data does not support saying that all of these people were specifically atheists, however. Pew’s category includes people raised with another religion as well as those raised atheist, agnostic, or with no particular religion. So “millions of atheists are turning to Jesus” is stronger than what the available national data establishes. At the same time, something notable has happened in the broader trend. After decades of decline, Christianity’s share of the U.S. adult population has been relatively stable in recent years. Pew found that 62% of American adults identify as Christian, with the Christian share remaining between roughly 60% and 64% since 2019. For Christians, every person who comes to Christ represents something far greater than a statistic. It represents a life encountering the Gospel and choosing faith in Jesus. “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10 Jesus declared: “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6 America’s religious landscape continues to change, and people are moving in both directions—some leaving Christianity while others are embracing it. But the Gospel continues to be preached, and millions of Americans today identify as Christians despite not having been raised in the Christian faith. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.” Romans 1:16 #JesusChrist #JesusSaves #Christianity #FaithInJesus #Revival
