@thetimes: 🗣️ “I’m a city kid blundering his way into country life.” Among the twenty and thirtysomethings who grew up watching his hugely successful YouTube channel, Jack Harries is a pretty big deal. Between 2011 and 2015 he and his twin brother Finn, then teenagers, became early versions of what we now call influencers, posting mischievous homemade videos that featured everything from skydiving in the desert to turning their childhood bedroom into a ball pit. At the peak of their fame, they had 4m subscribers. Tatler called them “the hottest boys in the world”. Young girls screamed their names in the street. But that’s no longer how life looks for the pair. The days of lucrative brand deals and signing autographs are over. Finn escaped to Ibiza, where he runs an organic farm. And Jack, at the grand old age of 33, has taken what looks outwardly like early retirement. Now Harries lives by himself in a remote 200-year-old mill in the grassy middle of Cornwall. His new mission is to bring old rural skills back from the brink of extinction, to prove to other young people that it’s still possible to live off the land. 📸 Ben Knight for The Times #news #cornwall #rural #countryside #influencer
