@thebrainmaze: Why Doctors Inject Gas Into the Eye - A tiny gas bubble helps press a detached retina back against the eye wall. Laser or freezing treatment seals the tear, while careful head positioning keeps the bubble in place until the gas naturally absorbs.
wtf so you have to keep your face down for how long???

I have a full retinal detachment where the retina actually folded in on itself. + internal bleeding and decompression in the eye. yeh it s a mess. hopefully the pressure is back under control. but as for the retina part. nothing can be done yet.

Had this procedure done plus the scleral belt, which is till in place 37 years ago. Someone must have known what they were doing, never had the slightest issue. Still really good vision.

I had a detached retina in July. 2 weeks laying on my side. ( it was a temporal detachment ) gas bubble took about 6 weeks to go. Still have slight distortion in vision due to the detachment being so close to the macular.

My 89 year old grandma had this done. It was terrible recovery for her! But God willing she did it! She’s in her 90s now, eye sights a bit better but not perfect

My left retina is detached and torn, and I’ve lost vision in that eye. The retina in my right eye has been treated with laser photocoagulation for now, and it’s holding up.
