Bir e Shifa (also known as Beer-e-Shifa or the Well of Healing) is a historic well located roughly 80 to 97 kilometers southwest of Madinah, Saudi Arabia. Situated in the village of 'Alya within the blessed valley of Wadi al-Rawha, it sits along the ancient prophetic route that connects Madinah to Makkah and Badr. Historical & Religious Significance • The Prophetic Miracle: According to Islamic tradition, the well was originally dug by local villagers to access groundwater. However, the water was initially brackish, bitter, and unfit for consumption, frequently causing stomach distress and illness. When travelers informed the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) of this hardship, he placed his blessed saliva into the well and prayed for its purification. Miraculously, the water instantly turned sweet, refreshing, and curative. • Route of the Prophets: Wadi al-Rawha is highly revered in Islamic history. It is traditional lore that the area served as a rest stop where 70 prophets prayed and drank from its waters while traveling for Hajj. • The Path to Badr: The well sits directly on the path taken by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the 313 Sahaba (companions) as they marched toward the monumental Battle of Badr.
