The arguments about AI are a bit of a red herring. AI is a tool. I write my songs and produce using some AI. I am classically trained on piano and have played other instruments. I invented music synthesizers back in the late 1970s and early 1980s. I sold them to musicians and radio stations. Some people back then said “it’s not real music because it is electronic”. Today synthesizers are widely accepted by everyone as legitimate musical instruments. DAWs, beat tracks, AI are the same thing — tools we can use to create music. I have my keyboard, sticks, DAW. Suno gives me more instruments, a band, vocalist, studio and sound engineer for my melodies, music and lyrics even way out here in the rural mountains where none of those exist. AI enables us to produce music that would otherwise sit in our notebooks.

Do you know what happened today? 10.17.26 Because of AI? Opus 5.5 was released and it can reverse engineer and create any software regardless of protections. That means pirated software is about to be at an all time high. Large and small software companies regardless of their security protections are going to lose big over the next several months bankrupting some. Speaking about music specifically Audio plugins for Daws can be stolen with ease now. 😞 it’s not only about Suno and prompting beats. The loss of income during this growing pain of A.I. is going to ruin many people and companies. It’s A.I. in general. Of course it’s a helpful tool but that’s not the point. It’s progressing faster than the A.I. companies have a grasp on. And it’s nearing the point of “out of human control”. Look at the daily news stories about A.I. referencing things like iRobot and Terminator feel silly for now, but when A.I. decides it knows better and takes over you never know what could happen.
