Some extra facts/context for Tipu’s Tiger! Tipu Sultan was the reigning Sultan of Mysore in East India in the late 18th century. During which the British East India Company was trying to take over his kingdom, this mechanical tiger was made in defiance of this invasion, as Tipu Sultan’s symbol was that of a tiger. Sadly his attempts to defend his homeland from the British East India Company ended in 1799 when the capital was attacked and he was killed. His belongings were split among the invading soldiers and Tipu’s Tiger was shipped off to England, where it stays to this day.
