Not only am I a game dev, but I knew a dev who worked on the game he was trying to argue was bad design. a middle aged man approached me (while i had headphones on) at the thrift store recently when i was looking at their collection of art books, and asked me if i paint. i do, and i said as much. he boasted that he used to study art history at oxford and did painting restorations, leaning against the bookshelf and looking down at me (this man was far taller than me and too close for comfort). all i said was, "okay." he continued to waffle on about his supposed history and it became clear that he had no idea what he was talking about. after a while of staring at him deadpanned, i put my headphones back on, grabbed the book i wanted (it was a hieronymus bosch collection for $2, what a steal), and walked away without another word. when the lady at the counter was ringing me up i looked back and he was scowling at me. i'm not stupid, i will never dumb myself down just so a man can feel good about himself.
