@dwayne.mcmillan6: 🎸🎶 FROM NEW YORK & NEW JERSEY TO ATLANTA — MY MUSICAL JOURNEY! 🎶🎸 Let me tell you something! The musicians, entertainers, and vocalists in the ATL were THE TRUTH! Atlanta played a tremendous role in jumpstarting my professional music career, and I will always be grateful for the incredible talent, knowledge, and experiences I gained there! But my musical journey actually started long before Atlanta! During my years in the New Jersey and New York City area, I was blessed to be part of an incredible band called BLACK SUN! 🔥🎶 We performed an extremely successful and unforgettable concert at Teaneck High School in New Jersey. We had busloads of people coming from the Bronx, New York, just to witness that performance! Remember, social media wasn’t what it is today, so finding footage from those incredible days has been a challenge. Let me recognize some of the extraordinary musicians who made BLACK SUN so special! 🥁 Benny King Jr. – Drums 🎸 Andre Lee – Bass 🎹 “Ice Man” Jeff Lawrence – Keyboards 🎤 Walt Garcia – Lead Vocals 🎤 Ricky Green – Vocals 🎤 Gail Jones – Vocals 🎷 Ronnie Raggio – Saxophone 🎷 Ric Santiago – Saxophone 🎺 John Hart – Trumpet What an incredible collection of musical talent! Being surrounded by musicians of that caliber taught me so much about musicianship, professionalism, teamwork, and the power of a great live performance. Those experiences helped build the musical foundation I still stand on today! Then came ATLANTA! 🔥 When I first moved to Atlanta, I was working full-time in the IT industry and primarily playing guitar in church. I wasn’t really involved in the city’s music scene until my cousin, Trav Wright, encouraged me to come out, meet other musicians, network, and sit in with some of the incredible talent around the city. That encouragement changed so much for me! Trav introduced me to just about everybody I came to know in Atlanta’s music community. Many of those relationships remain special to me, and I still connect with some of those wonderful musicians today! A few years later, I became a member of Trav Wright and the ALLSTAR BAND! That experience was another tremendous chapter in my musical development. I learned so much about the current sounds, musical arrangements, stage presence, versatility, and the level of excellence required to perform alongside some of Atlanta’s finest musicians and entertainers. From BLACK SUN in New Jersey to the ALLSTAR BAND in Atlanta, every musical experience was preparing me for the journey I’m living today! Fast-forward to the present, and I’m blessed to be doing what I love as a full-time professional musician! Performing at weddings, private events, corporate functions, churches, festivals, and throughout the community, sharing my gift with people from all walks of life! What began as a passion has become so much more than a career. It’s a calling and a mission to bring people together through the power of music! ❤️🎶 I’m thankful for every musician who taught me something, every stage I’ve had the privilege of standing on, every relationship I’ve developed, and especially my cousin Trav Wright, who saw something in me and encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone. Never forget the people who helped you along the way. Never stop learning, and never underestimate how God can use one opportunity or one person to change the direction of your life! The journey continues, and I give God all the glory! 🙏🏾🎸 Dwayne “D’Mac” McMillan Guitarist | Vocalist | Entertainer #DMacMusic #BlackSunBand #AtlantaMusicians #ATLMusicScene #TravWright
