@anyi.manchester.u: 🚨 Cole Palmer on his conversation with João Pedro after Pedro Neto’s second goal against Everton: 🗣️ Cole Palmer: “After Neto scored his second goal, I called João over and told him he should have at least two goals by now. He’d missed so many good runs, and the problem was that he was becoming too predictable. Tarkowski was reading his movements and making sure he never had enough space to operate. I told him, ‘João, you can’t keep trying to beat the same defender in the same way. If he’s not giving you space up front, drop deeper and create it yourself. Come and receive the ball, turn and shoot, or connect with Neto before making your next run.’ He looked at me and said he understood, but Tarkowski wasn’t giving him much room to work with. I told him, ‘Then work with the space you get! If he follows you deep, we create space behind him. If he stays back, you have time on the ball. You have to make him choose.’ I also told him to communicate with me. When he sees an opportunity to run in behind, he should give me a sign so I can find him. He doesn’t need to make the same run every time. Sometimes, dropping deep and bringing a defender out of position is more dangerous than running straight towards goal. I reminded him that he has the quality to hurt any defence, but he needs to stop allowing defenders to dictate how he plays. A striker can go an entire game fighting for space and barely get a clear chance, or he can use his intelligence to create opportunities for himself and his teammates. I want João to understand that he doesn’t always have to wait for the perfect pass; sometimes, he has to change the entire situation to make that pass possible. I told him, ‘Stop trying to escape Tarkowski. Start making him move where you want him to move. The moment you control his decisions, you control the game.’” [ This is the source @UTD_Seth001 ]#chelsea #everton #chelsea #creatorsearchinsight #capcut
