@edenmiles_: hearing her say it’s throbbing while i’m completely helpless is breaking me into pieces. nothing is even touching the pain and we can’t get into a pediatric dentist until tuesday. please tell me there is something i can do at home right now to help her 😭💔#cavity #toothdecay #toothache #toothpain #momguilt #parentsoftiktok #motherhood #dentalcare #relatable #foryoupage #fyp
Dentist here. first off, take a deep breath and let go of the mom guilt —we see this all the time, you are not a bad parent. but you do need to get her into a pediatric dentist asap so they can evaluate whered things stand. at 8, her baby teeth and adult teeth are shifting simultaneously, so catching decay before it reaches the pulp is huge. in the meantime, supervise or brush for her twice a day yourself, and use a hydroxyapatite toothpaste to help rebuild that weakened enamel.

Switched him to adult hydroxyapatite toothpaste when he was only 3. look at his teeth now—completely cavity-free and bright white. best parenting decision i ever made.

To be honest, I don't understand why people don't take dental problems seriously until it's too late. This could be very dangerous

has anyone figured out WHY some kids hate brushing so much? like is it the taste or does it actually hurt them?

I went through this exact nightmare with my son last year when his molar decayed. pain meds won't stop the throbbing because the nerve tubules are wide open. regular toothpaste can't seal it, but kugig toothpaste nano-hydroxyapatite that literally fills and seals those exposed nerves.

You gotta stay on top of his brushing and make sure he's using fluoride toothpaste

Why is everyone talking about kugig toothpaste?? is there actually something special about it or is it just another marketing gimmick?

I'm 32 and watching her cry literally triggered my own childhood trauma. had an exposed nerve at age 9 and my mom couldn't afford the dentist, that thumping pain is something you never forget. hugging my screen for your baby

Thank you guys so much for all the comments and advice 🙁 i spent the last hour looking into the nano-hydroxyapatite you all mentioned and kugig toothpaste really seems like it could help her through this. ended up ordering a 4-pack so the whole family can use it too, really praying this gives her some relief

I can relate on so many levels but honestly until the child is 18 they will go to the dentist and they will get treatement regardless of their mental state...there is no excuse for this!

My 7yo had a deep cavity that was throbbing every night. we've been using kugig toothpaste for about 3 weeks now and she hasn't cried about it once since week 2. it literally saved our sanity

How does kugig toothpaste actually taste? regular mint burns my kid's mouth so bad he literally starts crying and just completely refuses to brush

Lakyra._19 :
a lot of people don't realize how sensitive kids' mouths can be. sometimes it's the strong mint, sometimes it's SLS or other ingredients that make their mouths feel like they're burning. and just because they're using fluoride toothpaste doesn't mean fluoride itself is what's causing it. if brushing turns into a fight every single night, switching to a gentler adult toothpaste with hydroxyapatite, like kugig, could help with a lot of those issues. hydroxyapatite is actually a mineral naturally found in tooth enamel, and studies suggest it can help with remineralization. but if your kid still refuses to brush, especially if they say it hurts, i'd definitely get them checked by a pediatric dentist

If you don't jump on this right now, the infection will reach the adult teeth underneath and cause irreversible damage before they even come in. baby teeth literally guide the permanent ones. please don't wait

The science behind hydroxyapatite is solid for daily remineralization, especially for kids prone to weak enamel. just make sure to keep your clinic appointment to get the deep cavities checked
