I say “written by Robert Munsch” and my 5-year-old excitedly announces “and illustrated by Michael Marchenko!!!” for over two years now.

The Munsch stories without Michael just never feel the same, with one exception: Love You Forever

I’m the kid based on The Lighthouse and I was SO bummed when I learned Michael wasn’t going to be the illustrator. Now the book is incredibly beautiful and I totally understand why Janet Wilson was chosen but as a 16 yr old kid who was just so accustomed to Bob’s books having Michael ‘s art I was crushed mine wouldn’t.

I have one tiny tattoo, and it’s the crown from paper bag princess, in honour of my daughter who passes at the age of 6 in 2020. It was her favourite book and had us read it to her every day.
