my now ex MIL did this. told us she would pay for the ceremony portion but ONLY if we got married in a church. neither of us wanted that... so since we didnt want what she wanted...she refused to pay. it only got worse.

MIL picked the things that could hurt the DIL the most... same as my ex mil. She served a sheet cake that looked dropped and forgot to take photos of big moments. We had nothing to remember the day except blurry photos of JUST her family... the invitations she also sent ONLY to her side...

Like her son’s not part of this wedding honestly, we kept our parents out of it. We didn’t even ask them for money. They were offended that we didn’t ask them for money and offered money later. They had no parts in any of the planning.
