Newcastle Crown Court previously heard that Kevin Low, formerly of Wealdhere Street, Bradford, West Yorkshire, targeted a teenage girl between 1997 and 2003, subjecting her to a series of sexual crimes in Bradford. Years later, the survivor stepped forward to report the abuse, leading to a comprehensive safeguarding investigation. On Monday 15 June 2026, Low was convicted of eight sexual offences. The judge handed him a 19-year custodial sentence alongside a lifetime restraining order and lifetime notification on the Sex Offenders Register. On 23 September 2026, just three months into his sentence, Low died inside HMP Holme House in Stockton-on-Tees. A mandatory independent investigation into the circumstances of his death has been launched by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman.
