Christians can celebrate Halloween because dressing up, eating candy, and spending time with family aren’t inherently sinful. Romans 14 teaches that matters of conscience should be respected. What matters is our intentions and whether we’re honoring God, not simply the holiday itself.

The word Halloween literally means “holy evening” don’t let evil have its own day! On Halloween, as a Christian my family dresses up, spends time with the each other and community, and we eat candy. We do not do spells, we do not try to contacts demons, and we do not stray from the lord and step with the devil. If you feel convicted to not participate in Halloween, that is YOUR walk! But nothing in the Bible says that partaking in trick or treating is sinful or demonic.

I’m a devoted Christian and will never celebrate Halloween. My church hosts a light party for those that don’t want to take part in the darkness of Halloween. My girls have a chocolate hunt around the house afterwards.
