Immigration didn’t take away the entire city of Hopkins. How is that relative. Groceries are crazy $$ everywhere. It’s likey a combo of that + Other stores around. It is sad if they can’t stay open. I remember Driscolls. Haven’t been in years.

There is literally a Lunds and byerlys less than a mile away. There is a target, aldi’s and cub food less than 2 miles away. The journalism talking about displaced grocery shopping is hilarious

stop blaming the metro surge when its the prices! Sadly, smaller businesses have higher prices since its too tough to compete with big box retail.

The multi-generation owned grocery store, Cooper’s in downtown Chaska, closed in 2024 after being in business 107 years. Sad to see these family owned longtime businesses close their doors.

I’m north of the city’s and my kids work at the local grocery store. There down also and has nothing to do with ice.

Driskolls has never really had to compete with Lunds on Highway 7, because they are different markets. The online delivery and most of all, Aldi on Cedar Lake Road or Target having the groceries and Cub Knollwood, all within a 3 mile radius. Thank you for keeping the press on these guys. I have memories of stopping by after school when I was at St. Joe’s in Hopkins or the library close by and they’ve kept up the quality.

The issues with driskill’s is prices, and quality of produce. Those little garlic bread rolls made in house used to be .99 each and now there $2+ each. Can food is often 40-80 cents more than target and even aldi. The produce is often bad quality too. Especially any cold bagged produce. Ive had to return several items before or not make the meals i want because the peppers are rotten. Its depressing in the store. The only benifit is the made food. I love their chicken and soups and chili. But the made in store sandwiches are like $10 when you can go to target or even a gas station and get one for much cheaper.

Prices are higher than other stores. The prices have been high for years. Hopkins needs a grocery store and it would be a shame if they closed. I will try to stop on my way through to buy the things I can to support a small business.

All too often saw, or purchased over due product. High prices and always rounding up for charity. Although, very convenient, friendly staff. Metro surge had nothing to do with it.
