Unfortunately, we had to put Loki to sleep. When he first came to us, he already had a tumor on his eye. He was very underweight and barely eating. At the first appointments with the avian specialist, they took swabs, but the results came back negative. After that, the vet recommended surgery to remove the tumor from his eye — both to improve his quality of life and to find out what it actually was. The surgery was about two weeks ago, and he handled it incredibly well. The very next day he was already active again, eating, and looking so much stronger. We were so hopeful. However, he still had to stay in quarantine. Two weeks later, last Friday, we were hit with devastating news: Loki had avian tuberculosis. An incurable disease. A disease that would have caused him ongoing pain and a slow, suffering death over the next months. Sadly, all of his organs were already affected. This illness spreads through the air and, in rare cases, can even be transmitted to humans. I had been so full of hope — and then everything collapsed with that diagnosis. He started to suffer. After some time, he began to hang his head, and you could see how much he was struggling. Letting him go was the hardest decision, but it was the best we could do for him — and for everyone around him. He was only seven months old. He would have only continued to suffer. Now he went over the rainbow bridge 🌈 into the milletworld ❤️ I really miss him ☹️ I feel so terrible that there was nothing more I could do. That this disease is simply incurable. Rest in peace, my little angel. 02.03.2026 🕊️ #cockatiel #birdtok #petbird #petloss
