@brian.anderson.bfdm: 🚨 What is AdFection? How can you protect yourself from zero-click spyware delivered through online ads? Researchers have confirmed something significant: targeted online advertisements were used to deliver spyware without anyone clicking a link. It's called AdFection, and the investigation from Citizen Lab exposes how the advertising system was used for both targeted spyware attacks and widespread device profiling. 🔴 Here's what researchers actually found: ⚠️ CONFIRMED INFECTIONS: Citizen Lab documented spyware infections at Al Jazeera. At least 45 devices were targeted during attacks in 2024 and 2025. The spyware recovered by researchers was built for Windows. 📱 BROAD ADVERTISING REACH: Discover-Tech's ads appeared across nearly 200,000 mobile apps and websites during March–June 2026. The advertising infrastructure was also used to gather identifying information from ordinary users. Nearly 200,000 apps and websites reached does NOT mean 200,000 infections. This time, the documented spyware attacks involved selected targets. But the delivery technique is real, and the tracking infrastructure reached much further. 🛡️ 4 things I recommend doing RIGHT NOW: ✅ 1. UPDATE EVERYTHING Update your phone, computer, browser, and apps. Turn on automatic updates so known vulnerabilities get patched. ✅ 2. BLOCK ADS IN YOUR BROWSER Use a reputable browser with built-in ad blocking or a trusted content blocker. Blocking malicious web ads reduces exposure to harmful code. Browser ad blocking generally does not cover ads appearing inside other apps. ✅ 3. CUT AD TRACKING Reduce the identifiers advertisers can use to recognize your device. 🤖 ANDROID / PIXEL: Settings → Google → All services → Privacy & security → Ads → Delete advertising ID 🍎 IPHONE: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Turn OFF “Allow Apps to Request to Track” These controls limit specific forms of tracking and targeting. They don't make your device anonymous or eliminate every tracking method. ✅ 4. REMOVE APPS YOU DON'T USE Unused apps can create unnecessary exposure to advertising and tracking. Fewer unnecessary apps mean fewer opportunities for ads like these to load. 🔐 AND REMEMBER: A VPN alone will not stop this type of attack. For people facing elevated surveillance risks, additional protections such as iPhone Lockdown Mode, Android Advanced Protection, and expert security assistance may be appropriate. No single setting guarantees protection. The objective is to reduce your exposure by stacking defenses. 📌 SAVE THIS VIDEO so you can follow the settings later. ↗️ SHARE IT with someone who should know how these attacks work. MAKE YOURSELF HARD TO EXPLOIT. 🔎 Research: Citizen Lab, Exposing AdFection, October 15, 2026, and the related Confiant investigation. #CyberSecurity #Privacy #TechTips #Spyware #AdFection

Brian Anderson | BFDM :
🤔 We've spent years teaching people to be careful what they click. Now researchers have confirmed spyware delivered through online ads without a click.
The bigger question: how much information are we comfortable letting the advertising system collect about our devices?
📱 Android or iPhone? Have you ever checked your ad tracking settings?
