@borntoserve07: Being dependable earned me trust. Being endlessly available nearly cost me myself. What started as my willingness to help slowly became an expectation that I would always be available. People think dependable and available are the same thing. They're not, and mixing them up almost cost me myself. Dependable means my word is good. Available meant my phone was never off, my day off was never mine, and my "no" didn't exist. People who trust you will understand when you say "tomorrow." People who only expect you will act like you abandoned them. That reaction tells you which one you've been giving. Keep your word. Give your heart. But stop handing over every hour of your life just to prove you care. You can be someone they count on and still come home to yourself.
