DIMINTA – 17 October 1961 | The Paris Massacre | Algerian Tribute DIMINTA – 17 Octobre 1961 | Massacre de Paris | Hommage à l’Algérie DIMINTA – 17 October 1961 | The Paris Massacre | Algerian Tribute A song of memory, history, and freedom. A tribute to the Algerian people. On October 17, 1961, during the Algerian War of Independence (1954–1962), thousands of Algerians gathered in Paris to peacefully protest a discriminatory curfew imposed specifically on Algerians. The demonstration was met with brutal police repression. Thousands were arrested, many were beaten, and numerous people were killed. Some victims were thrown into the River Seine. The exact death toll remains disputed by historians. For decades, this tragedy received limited public recognition. Today, remembering October 17, 1961, means remembering the victims, acknowledging the suffering of their families, and preserving the historical memory of the Algerian struggle for independence. THE MUSIC BEHIND THE TRIBUTE For this original musical reinterpretation, DIMINTA brings together the musical inspiration of Cheb Aziz’s Lahwa Wadrar and the revolutionary spirit associated with Jina Men Ain M'lila By combining Algerian musical heritage with revolutionary expression, this project seeks to connect generations through music and bring a chapter of Algerian history to audiences around the world. This is a musical tribute to memory, dignity, freedom, and the victims of October 17, 1961. History must be remembered. The victims must never be forgotten. 🎵 Artist / Musical reinterpretation: DIMINTA 📅 Historical commemoration: October 17, 1961 🇩🇿 Dedicated to the memory of the Algerian people and their struggle for independence.
