Not surprising at all that it is that high. Most one bedrooms in Pasadena are over 2,000 a month. How can anyone afford to move here with current job pay? Seniors can't downsize because the smaller home will be more expensive than their current home. How can families accommodate a new baby or a transition? We are all stuck.

Born & raised in Pasadena. As were my kids. My kids still go to school in Pasadena, but we had to move out of the city because we can’t afford housing that’s big enough for our family of 5.

There’s a house on my block for lease in Rosemead. Not renovated. On a busy street with a TINY yard, twin bed sized bedrooms and 1 bath for $4200. Shocking not shocking there are no takers.

As someone who owns property in multiple states and sees show property moves where there aren’t taxes protections on property - Props 13, 58, 193 have done more to create wealth for families in the market by creating scarcity in the real estate market in CA.

we don't need more buildings, we need companies to be banned from owning single family homes, we need landlords to be forced to rent units instead of keeping them empty out of sheer greed. there's more than enough existing housing for every person in this country to have shelter. greed is the only reason we're forced to live like this and your solutions aren't going to fix anything. tax the rich, stop letting corporations fuck us all at every turn.

It’s insane how the US spend $900 Billion in 2025 & then $1 Trillion in 2026 on the defense budget. That is 12 times more on the military than affordable housing, and let’s not compare how much the US spends compared other industrialized nations combined

I grew up in pasadena. cant afford to go back. im a senior epidemiology researcher and my partner is in a leadership position at a non profit. we can afford it. what kind of community is being cultivated in pasadena if accomplished people like us cant afford it? one that only is habitable for the rich. but the rich don't create a fully rounded community.
