With the kindness of our supporters, we have been able to feed, treat, vaccinate and find loving homes for so many of them. But now we urgently need your help to secure their future. We must leave our rented building in December, and we need somewhere for the dogs to go. We now have a piece of land in Álamos, Sonora, where we can create a permanent sanctuary. It will be a place where dogs can recover, feel safe and wait for a family—and where those who are never adopted will always have a home. We have the land and the determination. What we don’t yet have is enough money to build. Our first goal is modest: a small, secure building where we can shelter and care for the dogs. Building costs in Álamos make this an achievable beginning, but we cannot do it without help. Two wonderful women, Judith and Dulce, are at the heart of our work. They feed hungry street dogs, care for injured animals and help dogs who would otherwise have no one. We also hold regular free spay and neuter clinics and offer free vaccinations, helping families care for their animals and reducing the number of unwanted puppies. Through friends and social media, we have found loving homes for many dogs. Every adoption means another dog has a chance to be safe, cared for and loved. But there are still so many waiting for that chance. A small group of generous monthly donors keeps this work going, and I am deeply grateful to them. Their support helps us meet everyday needs, but it cannot stretch far enough to build the sanctuary too. We receive no funding from the State of Sonora or the City of Álamos. Everything we do depends on private individuals who choose to help. I manage the fundraising, social media and accounting myself. Every penny donated goes towards helping the dogs, and I am committed to making this permanent home a reality. Please take a look at our Alamos Dog Foundation Instagram and Facebook pages. You’ll see the dogs, the work Judith and Dulce and I do, and the difference your kindness can make. If you can, please donate towards building their sanctuary. Any amount will help us move closer to having a safe home ready before we have to leave in December. If you’re unable to give, sharing this appeal could help us reach someone who can. My dream is simple: to know that when a dog needs us, we have somewhere safe to bring them—and that the dogs already in our care will always have a place to call home. Thank you for helping us give them that security, and for caring about the dogs of Álamos. With gratitude, Kelly Founder, Alamos Dog Foundation
