A predator sentenced to eight years after travelling to abuse what he believed were two children—including a three-year-old toddler—has been released from prison. The court heard that Shahmaan Ahmed, from Newham, London, communicated with an undercover police officer to arrange sexual encounters with two fictitious children aged eight and three. Ahmed travelled to a designated town carrying sweets and a sex toy to give to his intended victims. Thames Valley Police arrested him at the scene and seized his mobile phone, discovering further evidence of highly sexualised chats involving other children. Sentencing him to eight years in 2021, Judge Kirsty Real told Ahmed she had no doubt he would have carried out the abuse had the children been real. Having completed the custodial portion of his sentence, Ahmed has now been released on licence and is believed to have returned to Newham.
