A 49-year-old Wisbech man who targeted what he believed was a 12-year-old child on Kik has been jailed for seven years after messaging an undercover police officer. Cambridge Crown Court heard that on 28 January, Michael Richardson, of Money Bank, Wisbech, initiated contact on the messaging app Kik. Richardson sent sexually explicit messages, instructing the supposed child to engage in sexual activity and demanding photos so he could make an illicit video. Officers arrested Richardson at his home on 28 March and seized his mobile phone, discovering 48 indecent images of children stored on the device. Richardson admitted five child sexual offences. On Monday 3 August 2026, the Crown Court judge sentenced him to seven years in prison, placed him on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely, and issued an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
