I don’t believe in “gentle parenting” When a kid needs to learn something or they are in trouble you just have to be firm with them and make sure they know that they’re are consequences for their actions. BUT those consequences so never be hitting, spanking, restricting, anything and I also believe yelling only teaches kids the wrong things

but there’s a line between yelling at them to learn to not hurt others, to not hurt themselves, and yelling at them because they mess up. it’s important to set a line between hey don’t touch the hot stove and the you spilt water on the floor.

like we still remember how we felt when we were yelled at during that age, treat the children the way you want to be treated now and you little you wanted to be treated

I don’t yell when they don’t understand, I yell when they understand and CHOOSE to do the wrong thing that they know is wrong or hurtful

So... my youngest is a boy. He has down syndrome and very boy, all boy! I have 3 others, and this guy has me wrapped around his finger I believe sometimes lol. He is so sweet and yet so independent ... it is a bit different teaching and learning method that I will continue to learn daily forever I am sure. ❤️

This was me until I had 2 rough little toddler boys. After a few times of getting hit in the head with a bulldozer you’ll find it’s super hard not to yell knock it off 😅🤣 but I agree & love this message.🥰❤️

If I tell the little girl I nanny “don’t do that” she makes direct eye contact with me and does it anyway. She’s 2 👁️👄👁️

i work with prek-8th and i never get frustrated at the littles but 3rd grade and up, if im telling you the clearest instructions, can we please just follow them? i don’t understand why they actively choose to not listen. like even the special friends are easier to work with then the 3rd-8th graders.

It’s literally their first time for everything. They’re just little people trying to figure out life. I’m 21 and still learning to figure out life

raising voice is one thing, being stern and letting that child know they did something wrong or pushed a boundary is totally okay. screaming or yelling at a child is another story. I love my little siblings but sometimes man you gotta raise that voice and set those boundaries for them to really understand, let them be upset and then talk about it a couple minutes or hours later, only if they are really REALLY not listening

there’s 1 kid in my class that has super big feelings about everything all the time. i recently tried affirmations and the immediate calm down made me so sad 😞 all she needed to hear was that she was smart and a good friend
