What an absolutely stunning abd insightful post, Claudia. One has a penchant for mother-of-pearl hafted flatware or pearl silverware as you mentioned in contemporary catalogues of the Victorian period. One has seen pieces both EPNS and silver from pickle forks to dessert and fruit sets, even cavair spoons crafted from this iridescent and lustrous material. In addition, one finds them still quite tactile and still a manifestation of refined elegance upon the well appointed table. 🥰😁😃😎
