@levi_hildebrand: Obviously there’s a lot of nuance missing from this video but the general philosophy that we’ve adopted is the 80/20 rule or the idea that “done is better than perfect”. We are making all kinds of choices everyday but we’re more forgiving with ourselves and others. We could have included a bunch more of these but maybe that’s another video?
“Vegan plus bacon and cheese” is still better than just eating meat.

1 billionaires holiday wipes out 1 persons entire sustainable life. The guilt I used to feel, and it's not even our fault.

I’ve never understood the bamboo cutlery thing. You have metal cutlery already. Why do people think they need to purchase something separate to take away from their homes?

My life got significantly better when our city got an industrial composter and started collecting food waste. I hated composting at home

why BUY a zero waste kit instead of packing your own knife and fork into a bag??

I think content about “doing the best with what we have” is way more relatable and has a much further reach than sharing the “extreme”

Vegan but BLANK is harm reduction and still does what you want it to do (make yourself feel better about your effect on the planet when your effect on the planet is VASTLY out weighed by corporations)

I own a cloth diaper brand and also use disposable diapers when cloth feels like too much. Sooo many people part time cloth diaper. The idea that it has to be all or nothing makes it less approachable.

This is the kind of lifestyle we should actually promote, we don't need extremes, we need balance, I don't cook meat, when I'm alone I eat vegetarian, but with people and going out I eat whatever, that's ok, you dont need to be all or nothing

Hello! Recycling expert from Oregon here. Recycling rates are very dependent on where you live, mostly because of state laws and regulations. For example, where I live, we could have better recycling recovery rates but if you put someone on the list in the bin, it is most likely being responsibly recycled. The facility near me even has items go through the systems multiple times just to get as much of the material recycled as possible.

Honestly the human environment desperately needs more trees and plants. The heatwaves in Sydney suburbs is out of control and made worse by lack of trees

anything in moderation, I bring collapsible containers if I know I wont finish my dinner, but also occasionally buy sweet drinks using disposable cup/bottle (and I dont do this everyday). i used to have heavy period when I was younger, so I used 42cm dispo pads on heavier days (yes we have them in my country) bc cleaning pads on heaviest days were exhausting 🙂↕️and switched to reusable when the flow was lighter.

i remember watching you! i def was more into trying to be perfect then, today i do as much as i can but sometimes it's not realistic to stick to certain "sustainable" choices all the time.

a lot of the info about recycling just going in landfills is because people recycle things that can't be recycled. if you are only recycling the right things then most of it is actually being recycled

Your recycling can have tons of year in the garden. Cardboard and paper as mulch (just the brown stuff not the dyed or bleached stuff) things like yogurt containers as pots, large plastic bottles for tiny greenhouses etc. tons of use.

There's a few things I've learned about sustainability since starting my engineering degree but the one that surprised me the most is that the 100-mile-diet and installing a heat pump are the two biggest changes most individuals can make.
