@the.plot.news: Jensen Huang, the billionaire CEO of Nvidia, the world’s most valuable company, has praised Britain’s intelligence and innovation. But he also thinks something is seriously holding the country back: our attitude towards success. Speaking to journalists in London on 14 October, Huang delivered a brutally frank assessment of British culture. His argument? Britain has some of the world’s greatest minds, universities and scientific institutions. But when it comes to turning brilliant ideas into successful businesses, we’re often our own worst enemies. “If there was a million ways to win, you find the one reason not to do it,” he said. Huang believes Britain is missing something fundamental: “the entrepreneurial spirit.” He contrasted British attitudes with those in America, where taking risks, building businesses and chasing ambitious goals are more openly celebrated. “If you tell an entrepreneur there’s one in a million chance they can succeed, that entrepreneur says, ‘So you’re telling me there’s a chance?’” In Britain, he suggested, people are more likely to concentrate on all the reasons things could go wrong. But this wasn’t simply an American billionaire having a dig at Britain. Huang genuinely believes the UK has enormous potential, particularly in artificial intelligence. During the same visit, Nvidia announced investments in five British start-ups and committed $250 million in computing resources to UK AI safety research. That’s a substantial vote of confidence from one of the world’s most influential technology companies. His criticism also raises a bigger question about British culture. Are we too uncomfortable with ambition? Too quick to criticise success? Too afraid of failure? Or is Huang overlooking the very real obstacles British entrepreneurs face, from access to investment and high operating costs to an economic environment that makes taking risks difficult? After all, a reluctance to gamble everything on a business idea isn’t necessarily a cultural flaw when the consequences of failure can be financially devastating. Huang’s message is clear: Britain has the brains. What he questions is whether we have the belief. But is Britain’s problem really our mindset, or does the system make ambition harder than it needs to be? What do you think (and what are your biggest ambitions)? #nvidia #jensen #british #uk #london

in America, a Taiwanese man is seen as an American, and can rise to the top. in Britain, the same guy would be classed as a foreigner and told to go back to his own country.

What are you talking about? Many students take out loans to go to university, and even after they graduate, they can't find jobs. As AI and robotics advance further, it will become even harder to find work—and you're the one causing that.😡
