When the server asked me why I didn’t tip. I would’ve looked at him, straight in the face and say I was trying to get changed to tip you but now you’re getting nothing.

The way he said “you’re not gonna tip me” was not in a question. It was with an attitude and clearly to embarrass me. If he would’ve pulled me to the side or spoke low and asked, is everything OK? Did I do something wrong? I would’ve explained the misunderstanding. ..

I dunno. It takes a LOT for me to not tip. But I probably would’ve tried to embarrass him back by explaining and making a point to say, I was going to leave you one of these 50s, but keep the 24 instead. I might also (later) reach out to the manager and ask them to train them on it. Hostess sb able to back you up. 🤷🏼♀️

knowing how much restaurant staff gossip, I would have turned to that hostess making change and told her that his attitude just cost him a 50 dollar tip. I bet even the people on their day off would have heard about it.

Not wrong at all! Even if you weren’t about to tip that’s no excuse to talk to people that way. I would have done the same but also let him know he missed out on 50$ because he was so quick to judge you

It ruins the entire experience and now every time you think of that restaurant, you will think of that single experience. I’ve had to do that a few times as the waitress, but it gets you no where.
