the best way is to make them realistic. there's a reason why people were more disturbed by Claude frollo than Ursula.

i also remember a game giving a hint as a player goes into the vent that says “You cannot be followed into the vents…” some people interpret it as “the antagonist is (literally coded to) not able to go into the vents after you” but it really means “you cannot allow yourself to be followed into the vents” meaning it was a bad idea to go into the vents. even if theres not a mechanic where the antagonist can actually get to you in the vents, i feel like the unease and paranoia after realizing what the hint meant while youre already in the vents is worse than being jumpscared immediately when you enter the vents like most games.

That sounds like me . . . heh 😈😈 guess that's just a glimpse into how dark and twisted my mind really is . I guess it's because I learned dark psychology at a young age 😂

Also, make his name Rudy. Make him super smart like iron man. And also know the weakness of the main charactwr. Also make him literal hitler

I want to write a villain that is truly “righteous”. A villain that makes you question whether or not they truly are the bad guy. What they tried to make Saw be but failed. I mean, a villain with a true morale, that isn’t a hypocrite.

Avoid explosive anger, a specific example is Helluva Boss’s 6 sins. All of them to achieve some kind of presence get large, loud, and angry as an attempt to show off power and control through fear. This does not work unless we already know what happens when they get angry for starters, but it is also a very easy way to not scare someone and instead have the person view the villain as incredibly immature. You have to be really careful on your buildup to an outburst your villain makes and how it comes across, or you lose any chance of the villain establishing a menacing aura.

okay how about this... manipulate every single character even the hero and secretly making the hero slowly kill everyone just for you. Make the hero thinks they're a saint for this and also make the hero obsessed with you until they're almost close to finding the truth. Afterwards create beings looking close to the people they kill and make the hero regret their choice, then reveal the truth casually when trying to make them kill themselves ☺️

The best villains are the villains who are genuinely right. Think of communism, it’s a good idea gone wrong, so if a “villain” genuinely deludes themself into believing something (like justice is corrupted) then they will do anything it takes to preserve justice, they aren’t evil and kill people for fun, that would be childish.

i dont remember what game it was, but i remember seeing a game a while back on tiktok where the antagonist’s coded AI learns from the routes the player tries to take. so it learns the players playstyle as you go and it bases its own routes off that. the first slide reminded me of that, its pretty sick

You could make them act like/believe they're the good guy instead of the villain. And give them a variety of issues that influence their behavior to make them unpredictable. I don't know anything about writing characters but I think these would be cool traits.

I'm currently making a story where the villain created a problem and needs something from the protagonist to fix it
