The reason the moment is so delicious in Pretty Woman is bc she was using her newfound wealth to turn the tables on the classist lady…Kelly Clarkson already has money, so she wasn’t subverting classism or getting revenge, she was just exerting her power as a wealthier (social cache included) person. She wasn’t Vivian Ward, she was Veruca Salt.

I’ve had a similar Pretty Woman moment happen to me twice, where I wasn’t allowed to try something on and the clerks followed me like a hawk with disgust on their face, and I left the store without buying anything. All I could think about was the movie and “Big mistake. Huge.” when I spent my money elsewhere.
