We’re starting this series with homemade limoncello! 🍋✨ If you’re looking for a thoughtful homemade gift this Christmas, this is one you can start making now and have ready just in time for the holidays. It takes a little patience, but it’s worth the wait! 🍋 Homemade Limoncello Recipe What you’ll need: • 10 Organic Lemons ( I am using Meyer Lemons, that’s why they look like oranges) • 750 ml high-proof alcohol (I used 190-proof Everclear) • 3 cups sugar • 3 cups water • Optional: ½ cup additional sugar (I added this to mine!) Step 1: Infuse the lemons 🍋 Lightly peel your lemons, avoiding the white part (called the pith), which can make your limoncello bitter. Place the peels in a glass jar and completely cover with alcohol. Seal tightly and store in a cool, dark place for at least 4 weeks, giving the jar a gentle shake once a week. Step 2: Make the simple syrup After 4 weeks, strain out the lemon peels. On the stove, combine 3 cups of sugar with 3 cups of water, gently heating until the sugar has completely dissolved. Allow the syrup to cool completely before combining it with your infused alcohol. ( I clearly did not do this because I was in a rush) Give everything a good stir until thoroughly combined. If you prefer a sweeter limoncello, dissolve additional sugar in a little water, allow it to cool, and add gradually to taste. I ended up adding an extra ½ cup of sugar. Step 3: Bottle & enjoy! 🍋 Pour your limoncello into glass bottles, seal tightly, and store in the freezer for at least 48 hours. I personally prefer letting mine rest for 1–2 weeks before enjoying it! Limoncello is traditionally served ice cold, straight from the freezer, and enjoyed in small glasses after a meal as a digestif. ✨🍋This recipe made 8- 6.8 oz bottles. I linked the bottles in my Amazon storefront. 😊 Homemade gifts are always a little more special, and this is one I love giving! 🎁 Save this recipe for later, and follow along for next week’s homemade Christmas gift idea! 🎄 #HomemadeChristmasGifts #HomemadeLimoncello #MadeFromScratch #SuburbanHomestead #homemadegifts
