Egan :
kitusawa alipatana na bishop to my own view hajui kitu coz hapa jibu ni rahisi sana , Church also needs maintenance. We have electricity bills to pay. Some churches rent buildings, and people are giving willingly to support these responsibilities. You cannot leave all the responsibility to our pastor.
And I understand that we have conmen on pulpits who are selling oil, which is against the Bible. We have conmen who are taking advantage of the church narrative to manipulate people. But when you are in a good church, I repeat, when you are in a good church, you are taught not to give so that you can be blessed. God is not SportPesa, where you give KSh 2,000 expecting to receive KSh 4,000. No!
People give willingly. People who are already blessed give willingly. And this narrative that rich people don’t go to church is very wrong. Who told you that only poor people go to church? Some of us are rich, we go to church, and we give. In fact, we give heavily, and we don’t brag about it. Not because we want to be blessed or want God to bless us, but because we are already blessed. We give without expecting anything in return.
We give to support the work of God and maintain the church. A good church accounts for every coin, every shilling. We have good churches that pay school fees for the poor and support people who don’t have jobs, and we don’t talk about these things on social media. We pay rent using church money, support those in need, and never go around announcing it to the world. We communicate these things within the church, and life goes on.
So, this habit of people getting offended when they see others giving offerings in church is, in some cases, simply out of stinginess and a failure to understand how a church operates.
Yes, we have manipulators like Ng’ang’a and Kanyari. We have people who misuse the pulpit to manipulate others for their own gain. I am not defending them. But their existence does not change the fact that the existence of fake dollars does not make genuine dollars fake. Likewise, the existence of conmen in churches does not mean that every church is fraudulent or that everyone who gives an offering is being conned.
