At first this story is going to be quite comical because it’s about a stick fight, but there are some very insightful moments caught on body cam that need to also be shared. That is why this will be a multi part post. Part 2 - On January 10, 2026, Officer Mobley had been driving along SE Eastgate Way when he drove up on two Porchlight clients having a stick fight in the street. In Part 1 you will see two men on the ground proned out waiting for officers to make contact. Officers detained both men without incident. The subject was put into a police cruiser while they investigated and learned that the subject was indeed a victim in this incident. At that point he was taken out of handcuffs. Through talking to the victim, officers learned that both men were current Porchlight Men’s Shelter clients. Otherwise, the victim didn’t know who the man was. He didn’t even know his name. They had been verbal on bus route 271 as they were heading to Eastgate. After they got off the bus they got into a fight. The actual officer that caught the fight appears to not have had a bodycam on and functional that night. Which means the interviews with both the subject and the victim were not caught directly on bodycam. As previously shared, the victim’s face is redacted for protection. The Bellevue Police Department redacted this part themselves. Officers developed probable cause for Assault 4 on the subject in the cruiser. His name is Cornelius Thomas. He was taken into custody and transported to Score Jail. Where he was booked into jail for Assault in the Fourth Degree. #BellevueWA #PorchlightMensShelter #Eastgate
