@bald_brad: France should be a warning to the entire West. You cannot bring in massive numbers of people and then pretend assimilation doesn’t matter. A country needs shared laws, shared civic values and some basic agreement about what society is actually built on. France’s own government has warned about radical Islamist separatism challenging secularism, freedom of conscience and equality between men and women. The UK government is warning about Islamist extremism too. That does NOT mean every Muslim immigrant is a radical. It means radical Islamism and Western liberal democracy fundamentally clash when religious authority is placed above civil law. France and Britain are dealing with that tension right now.
