✝️ AMAZING DISCOVERY NEAR JERUSALEM: 2,000-YEAR-OLD AQUEDUCT MAY HAVE CARRIED WATER USED IN JESUS’ TIME! Archaeologists have uncovered a remarkable piece of ancient history near Jerusalem — a section of a water system that may have supplied water to the city during the time of Jesus Christ. The discovery, announced by the Israel Antiquities Authority on October 11, 2026, revealed approximately 984 feet of an ancient aqueduct near Kibbutz Ramat Rachel. Built during the Hasmonean period, the waterway transported water from Solomon’s Pools near Bethlehem to Jerusalem’s Temple Mount, a major center of Jewish religious life. The aqueduct stretched approximately 13 miles and used gravity to move water across the landscape. Its water supported everyday needs and religious practices, including purification rituals and cleaning after sacrifices at the Second Temple. According to Douglas Estes, an associate professor of religion, Jesus and his disciples may have used water supplied by this system. However, there is no direct archaeological evidence proving that they personally used this particular aqueduct. The discovery also offers a fascinating glimpse into the engineering achievements of ancient Jerusalem, showing how its rulers developed sophisticated infrastructure nearly two millennia ago. Even more interesting, the aqueduct will reportedly be preserved and incorporated into the entrance of a planned residential development, allowing people to see this remarkable piece of history. For Christians, the discovery carries powerful symbolism. The Bible frequently uses the expression “living water,” and Jesus describes himself as the source of spiritual life. Although the aqueduct does not prove biblical events, it helps illustrate the historical world in which Jesus lived. 🙏 Imagine standing beside a waterway that may have served Jerusalem during the time of Jesus. History has a way of bringing the ancient world closer to us! Do you believe discoveries like this help strengthen our understanding of the Bible?
